The Ozdinler Lab was able to generate a model system in which the brain motor neurons were genetically labeled to express a fluorescent protein. This allowed identification of brain motor neurons among many different brain cells. When these brains are sectioned sagittally they open up like flowers do. Scientists use them to study how neurons grow, connect and communicate with respect to health and disease.
